Do nothing with Marina Abramovic
Every exhibition is an experience and Marina Abramovic has, precisely, made experience – hers, and yours – her raw material. A performer, she invited the public to witness her risk-taking: with knives (Rhythm 101973), with fire (Rhythm 51974), with various objects including a gun and a lipstick (Rhythm 01974), with a hairbrush (Art Must Be Beautiful, Artist Must Be Beautiful1975), with nudity in the company of Ulay (Imponderabilia1976, Luminosity1997), with a bow and arrow (Rest Energy1980), with the stench of a pile of bones (Balkan baroque1997). The exhibition dedicated to him at the Kunsthaus Zurich captures these historical moments – and sometimes recreates them.
