The Washington Capitals captain will be in uniform for the duel against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 39-year-old sniper was injured during the November 18 clash against the Utah hockey club. He suffered knee-to-knee contact and missed his team’s next 16 games.
Before getting hurt, the Russian scored two goals, bringing his total success to 15 in 18 games this season. He also has 868 career goals, 26 shy of the National League record set by Wayne Gretzky.
The absence of Ovechkin has not slowed down the Capitals too much, who are having an excellent campaign so far. Heading into today’s games, the Washington team maintained a 23-9-2 record, occupying second place in the Metropolitan Division standings.
