Back at her best level in speed, as evidenced by her three consecutive podiums at Beaver Creek and Saint-Moritz, Lara Gut-Behrami also seems to have regained all of her giant abilities. After withdrawing just before Sölden and taking a modest 13th place in Killington, the Ticino had an excellent first round in Semmering. Despite a somewhat timid start, she cut through the Zauberberg to finish only 0″15 behind the leader, the Italian Federica Brignone. Sara Hector is 3rd at 0″24.
On a track in good condition, Camille Rast, however, had a fairly complicated first round. The Valaisanne, leader of the general classification of the World Cup, made an inaccuracy which cost her quite dearly. She occupies 15th place, 1″88 from the lead and will have the opportunity to make a good comeback on the second track. Wendy Holdener (18th at 2″09) and Simone Wild (23rd at 2″45) will also have the opportunity to move up a few places in the second round.
Delphine Darbellay doesn’t go through with it
For her individual debut in the World Cup, Delphine Darbellay did not manage to go all the way. Getting off to a good start, the Valaisanne lost her pace after around forty seconds of racing. Late, she had to interrupt her round. But she proved that she was capable of competing with the world elite.
Despite good runs, Vanessa Kasper and Stefanie Grob failed to qualify for the second round.
