Golden Knights 6, Sharks 3
Brayden McNabb and Jack Eichel took turns scoring in the space of 23 seconds at the start of the third period, each time shorthanded, and the Vegas Golden Knights were able to come from behind to win 6-3 against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center.
The Golden Knights (24-8-3) were trailing 3-2 after 40 minutes when McNabb advanced with the puck to the left circle, where he made a fake that brought Timothy Liljegren to getting out of play by stretching out in front of him, only to shoot and find the back of the net at 1:03 of the third. A four-on-four sequence had just ended a few seconds earlier.
Eichel added another four-on-five goal, this time at 1:26, when Mark Stone sent him a short pass as he slipped between two defenders. He was able to escape and scored by bouncing the disc off the pad of Alexandar Georgiev (30 saves) to give Vegas a 4-3 lead.
Pavel Dorofeyev added an insurance goal at 5:46, then Brett Howden scored into an empty net at 19:28.
In the end, McNabb, Eichel, Stone and Howden all had a one-goal, one-assist night for the Golden Knights, who posted their fifth straight win. Noah Hanifin also found the back of the net for the visitors, while Alex Pietrangelo had three assists and Victor Olofsson, two. Adin Hill made 23 saves.
Will Smith, who also added an assist, Shakir Mukhamadullin, his first in the NHL, and Tyler Toffoli scored the goals for the Sharks (11-21-6), who suffered a sixth straight defeat (0-5-1 ). Fabian Zetterlund collected two assists to end up with a total of 101 career points (44 goals, 57 assists), who was in his 201st game in the NHL.
