Pierre-Luc Dubois, WSH (vs TOR) – Dubois took his game up a notch in the absence of Alex Ovechkin with the Washington Capitals. The Quebecer has collected at least one point in nine of his last 11 games – he totals 12 points during this sequence. Dubois was used for 20:39 on Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was the first time that Spencer Carbery sent him on the ice for more than 20 minutes in a single game this season, a sign of the head coach’s growing confidence in the newcomer. Even with Ovechkin potentially returning Saturday, Dubois should be one of the Capitals’ most sought-after players against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are allowing an average of 3.71 goals per game over the past two weeks.
Charlie Coyle, BOS (vs CBJ) – The Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets will be in the second chapter of their doubleheader. Friday in Columbus, Coyle stood out despite the Bruins’ 6-2 loss. He found the back of the net, but above all he fired seven shots on goal, a high for both teams. Coyle has four points and a +5 differential in his last three games. In a “comeback” duel where the Bruins will undoubtedly seek to avenge the setback of the day before, the American attacker could undoubtedly be one of their spark plugs.
