Cody Rhodes challenged Kevin Owens to a Ladder Match pour WWE Royal Rumble 2025.
Cody Rhodes made his return this Friday night at the end of an episode of Friday Night SmackDown to challenge Kevin Owens to a Ladder Match for the undisputed WWE Championship, putting his belt and Eagle Belt which Owens stole during Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Nick Aldis sent a message to Kevin Owens at the start of the episode, ordering him to return the Eagle Belt before the end of the evening. Owens responded a little later saying that he wanted to meet Aldis, but one on one in the ring.

Rhodes thus interrupted the face-to-face between Kevin Owens and Nick Aldis to launch the challenge, which will be accepted and made official by the general manager of SmackDown.
Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens is the first match announced for WWE Royal Rumble 2025, which will take place on February 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
