If you're planning to hit the road to leave or return from vacation this holiday season, you won't be the only ones.
From this Friday, December 27, 2024, traffic conditions will to deteriorate around Lyon and in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Here are Bison Futé's forecasts for this weekend and the areas to avoid.
A7, A46, A43…
In the direction of departures, on Friday, the main congestion will concern several motorway axes in the region. Bison Futé classifies the day as Orange, i.e. « circulation difficile ».
It is therefore advisable to avoid the A7 motorway between Lyon and Orange from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the A46 motorway and the N346 national road for the eastern bypass of Lyon from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the A43 motorway between Lyon and Chambéry from 4 p.m. at 7 p.m.
The A6 motorway between Auxerre and Beaune also risks being overloaded between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., as well as the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) between France and Italy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Complicated departures and returns on Saturday
Saturday December 28, traffic will be just as difficult but this time will concern departures and returns.
In the direction of departures, it is advisable to avoid the A43 motorway between Lyon and Chambéry from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but also the A48 motorway between Bourgoin-Jallieu and Grenoble from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the national 85 between Grenoble and Gap de 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
For returns, the A7 risks being overloaded between Orange and Vienne from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., as well as the A40 motorway between Annemasse and Mâcon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the A43 motorway between Chambéry and Lyon from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) between Italy and France from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Green light for Sunday
The day is nevertheless classified as “green” Sunday December 29 in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. If you can, it is therefore highly recommended to hit the road that daywhether coming home or going on vacation.
