In Doubs, things are not good for the Socialist Party. This December 27, 2024, we learned that the first federal secretary of the PS in the department, Myriam El Yassa, had spent 9 hours in police custody in the Besançon police premises the day before, Thursday December 26.
The reason? A complaint for “aggravated breach of trust” filed on October 31 by a member of his own party, a 70-year-old member of the Bisontin PS. “This man realized that his account was being debited every month since the start of 2024 for home insurance that he did not have.” explains the police.
After requisition and verification with the relevant insurance organization, it turned out that “this sum was used to pay for the insurance of the personal apartment of the federal party secretary, from January to August 2024” the police told France 3 Franche-Comté.
The suspect was arrested on December 26, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. and interviewed in police custody. She downplayed the facts, saying it was a mistake.
“During her hearing, she explained that she had made a mistake in good faith” adds the police. “She would share the same bank as the victim. The first secretary told us that the member’s RIB was present on her personal computer, when she wanted to pay her housing insurance, and that she had given the wrong bank account“. The damage is minimal, around 80 euros.
Ms. El Yassa, former national secretary of the PS in charge of the fight against discrimination and elected Bisontine, was released at 5:30 p.m. on December 26, 2024, free. The Besançon public prosecutor’s office, which took charge of the case, offered him a solution: reimbursement for the victim before January 10, 2025.
On this date, the courts will decide what action to take in this case: dismissal, recall of the law or legal proceedings. When requested, the prosecution did not respond to questions from France 3 Franche-Comté.
In the meantime, the preliminary investigation continues. The treasurer of the Doubs Socialist Party federation was interviewed by the police a few hours after Ms. El Yassa. As for the indictment, she assured France 3 Franche-Comté that he “it was a mistake“. “And I showed all the evidence yesterday to the investigators” she assures.
I’m angry because I spent 9 hours in police custody for only 80 euros. This is trivial, this should never have happened. The member could have called me before filing a complaint. I don’t understand.

Ms. El Yassa questions the timing of this complaint and tells us:not knowing the victim“. “I’ve only seen her three times in my life” she said. “If I hadn’t been first secretary, I wouldn’t have been treated like that. And it was me who spontaneously offered the refund“.
There remains one question. Why was the victim’s RIB on the accused’s personal computer, if the two protagonists did not know each other? “I don’t have to tell you everything” replied Myriam El Yassa. “Thank you and goodbye“.
Among the members of the Socialist Party of Doubs, this affair, although minimal, saddens and shocks the majority of those interviewed, who were not aware of this complaint. And who castigated their first secretary. “You teach me” admits a historic member, present in the party for more than 30 years. “Symbolically, this will hurt us very much. Especially in terms of our image, when we already had difficulties“.
It had to happen eventually. Ms. El Yassa is not at all unanimous among us. She is lost, does not have her head on her shoulders and is blinded by her excessive ambition.

“It’s weird” analyzes a PS mayor of Doubs. “For such a small amount, I hope it’s a mistake, if not, it’s really petty. This will get people talking about us and not in a good way. Ms. El Yassa has no place in this position of responsibility. She never managed to bring together, to bring the party to life in the small towns“.
This incident will therefore also have highlighted the tensions which pollute the Socialist Party in Doubs. Will this legal case be fatal to Myriam El Yassa, against whom criticism is piling up? “For now, I will not resign because I have nothing to reproach myself for” she told us.
This has the merit of being clear. But with eroded confidence and a damaged popularity rating, the coming months are likely to be complicated for the former national secretary of the PS in charge of the fight against discrimination.
