The halftime show with Beyoncé increased the audience for American matches on the streaming platform.

Netflix announced on Thursday, December 26, 2024 that the two NFL (National Football League) games broadcast over Christmas reached a peak of 65 million viewers in the United States. These meetings became the two most watched in the history of NFL streaming in the country.

The matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans averaged 24.3 million viewers, while the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers recorded 24.1 million. These numbers exceed the previous record of 23 million, set during the Miami Dolphins-Chiefs game last season.

Beyoncé performed during halftime of the Texans-Ravens game, performing songs from her latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” which reached a peak audience of 27 million.

This is the third time Beyoncé has performed at an NFL halftime show, following her appearances during the 2013 and 2016 Super Bowls. The performance took place in Houston, Texas, the hometown of the singer.

THE NBA ALSO ON THE RISE

The NBA (National Association) also held games on Christmas Day. The lineup included five games broadcast on ABC and ESPN, averaging 5.25 million viewers per game.

Although the league saw a viewership decline of nearly 28% in the United States, Christmas programming attracted 84% more viewers compared to the 2023 holiday season. This increase was driven by the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, which averaged 7.76 million and peaked at 8.32 million viewers.
