NARRATIVE – Since September, the “Grande Boutique” has been training, through its academy, four young artisans in its centuries-old and sometimes unique know-how. Meet these emerging talents in the fourth underground of Bastille.
At the age of 21, Alice makes her way through the narrow corridors that lead to the costume workshops. At the bend of a staircase, clothes appear by the hundreds, lined up in battle order. Waiting quietly on their racks for the next touch-up, like emergency room patients on Christmas Eve. Characters in search of actors. « These are the costumes of the chorus girls from one of our upcoming productions »says Aziliz, welcoming us to the basement of the Opéra Bastille. She and Alice know each other well. Both returned to school together last September as artisans in residence at the Paris Opera Academy. The first in the wig-makeup workshop. The second as production coordinator in the costume workshop.
