Dakar, Dec 26 (APS) – The Minister of Armed Forces, General Birame Diop, called on Thursday for citizens to massively join the defense and security forces during the next edition of the national day Sétal sunu rééw, scheduled for January 4.
”I call on our citizens to join us massively, in their villages, their neighborhoods, their cities, on January 4, 2025 to clean and preserve our living environment. I call on people, wherever they are, to work with the defense and security forces to make this day a success,” he said.
General Birame Diop spoke during the launching ceremony of communication and mobilization activities in view of the 8th edition of the national investment day, the organization of which is entrusted to the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Mbaye Cissé and the Major General, Martin Faye, High Commander of the National Gendarmerie took part in this activity organized in the gardens of Camp Dial Diop in Dakar.
”In the regions, he continued, zone commanders will work in full solidarity with legion commanders, but also support the services of other components of the defense and security forces to achieve the expected objectives.” .
The Minister of the Armed Forces specified that the organization of this “sétal sunu rééw” day, is in line with the Army-Nation concept which “allows us on a daily basis to work to preserve the environment, improve our framework of life, intervene in the preservation of the health of our populations”.
He indicated that this edition which will be chaired by the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, supreme leader of the Armed Forces, is placed under the theme “Seetal sa gokh, aar sa yaram: alongside the citizens, the armed forces are committed ”.
”And as the theme indicates, we are going to work to make our living environment clean, work to improve the health of the populations with the army health service and for this day in particular, we are going to organize with our health infrastructures free consultations for the benefit of the populations,” he said.
According to him, “the armed forces, for their part, will be ready, as usual, to respond to the call of this noble cause.”
They “will do their best to deserve the trust placed in them,” said the minister, adding that “this is why the defense and security forces have already all mobilized to make this edition a total success. all points of view.”
”We also invite representatives of the different components of the defense and security forces with whom we will work hand in hand to make this day a success,” he said.
The Ministry of the Armed Forces will be supported in the organization of this event by the Ministry of Health and Social Action.
The directors of the National Society for Integrated Waste Management and the Living Environment participated in the ceremony as well as other personalities from the State.
