In the Loire, it was in the Saint-Étienne employment zone that the average gross salary was highest in 2th quarter 2024. Over one year, it increased by 3.3%, but nevertheless began to slow down compared to the previous quarter.
2,610 euros gross per month. This is the average salary per person in the Loire in the second quarter of 2024, according to a study published by Epures*. A salary whose rate of growth is running out of steam over this period with a moderate increase of 0.3%. Logically, it is the employment zone of Saint-Étienne which displays the highest average salary (2,662 euros), followed by that of Roanne (2,523 euros), and Plaine du Forez (2,431 euros) .
However, over this quarter, the largest salary increase over the year was recorded in Roanne (+ 1.4%). Remember that in France in 2024, the average salary stands at 2,981 euros, and 2,885 euros across the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region.
Loire businesses are doing well
In the Loire, 75% of companies are rated favorably on their financial health. Of more than 6,400 companies analyzed last September, 24% even said they were in good health, and 51% presented a balanced situation. Only 8% are in difficulty. These figures are two points higher than the regional situation, and five points higher than the national situation.
Territorially, it is the Plaine du Forez which particularly stands out with 82% of companies rating their financial health favorably. However, disparities exist depending on the activities. The three sectors with the largest share of companies in a balanced situation are construction (64%), commerce (63%), and industry (58%).
Reduction in workforce
Finally, and after holding at 1is quarter 2024 (loss of 40 positions), the Loire employee workforce decreases slightly in 2th quarter (-0.3%, a loss of 620 jobs).
Over one year, they decreased by 0.8%. This quarterly decline most significantly affects the sector of Roanne (- 130 positions) and Saint-Etienne (- 410 positions). Note that this decline concerns all sectors apart from commerce, which remains stable.
