A passenger captured on video the crash of the plane on which he was traveling together with 66 other people headed to Grozny. The Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed in Kazakhstan for reasons yet to be ascertained. The man who filmed the last moments on board the aircraft survived.

Around 38 people died and 29 survived the plane crash which occurred on an Azerbaijan Airlines flight from Baku to Grozny, Russia. The plane crashed in Kazakhstan, near the city of Aktau, with 67 people on board. Among the 29 survivors there were also three children. The crew consisted of 37 Azeri passengers, six Kazakhstanis, three from Kyrgyzstan and 16 Russians together with the flight staff.

Among the surviving passengers, one of the survivors he shot a video a few seconds before the disaster to send it to his wife. In footage posted online by BNO, a Netherlands-based news channel, passengers are seen praying as their oxygen masks are already down. The passenger then turns the camera towards himself to explain the situation to his companion and give her what he thought would be his final farewell. Incredibly, however, the man is among the survivors of the disaster.

The causes of the disaster are still under investigation, still being verified by the authoritieswho initially dealt with the rescue of survivors and the recovery of lifeless bodies.

The video was spread online by major foreign newspapers and on social networks, quickly becoming viral. In the video we can hear the voices of the desperate passengers on board the flight which then crashed in Kazakhstan. More detailed information on what happened will be available after the analysis of the plane's black box, recovered by rescuers and authorities on the evening of the disaster.

From initial reconstructions it seems that the plane had reported problems first in Makhachkala and then in Aktau. He then flew over Aktau airport and requested support for an emergency landing. The pilots failed to control the descent, and the aircraft crashed to the ground, exploding.
