At the start of the year, in Villefranche-sur-Mer, elected officials approved in the municipal council the sale of so-called “Gas” land to the Giboire Group with the aim of establishing a hotel-spa-wellness there for the sum of 10, 76 million euros.
The project included the construction of 94 rooms, a spa and fitness area, a panoramic restaurant, a 43-room aparthotel, 124 parking spaces, the creation of 90 jobs in season and covering the decontamination of the site within the limit of 2 million euros.
On April 19, the mayor signed a unilateral promise of sale subject to the suspensive condition of obtaining a definitive demolition and building permit and justifying this deposit before December 31, 2024.
“We received the project leaders who informed us that, taking into account the decontamination studies and ongoing discussions with the Architect of Buildings of France, the deadline of December 31 was not tenable”informed Mayor Christophe Trojani during the last municipal council.
“I propose to postpone the initial date by six months to submit the building permit, with the aim of doing so before March 31”continued the mayor.
And to conclude: “I want to remain cautious because there have been precedents. This remains a good project for Villefranche but it must preserve the urban architecture of the town. I will be uncompromising on this point”.
The opposition abstained.
