TERAMO – Traditional appointment in Cerqueto on 26 December, at 6.30 pm, with the now historic Living Nativity Scene of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, now in its 57th edition of the representation and considered one of the oldest and most characteristic living nativity scenes in Italy . Also this year the performance, organized by the Pro Loco of Cerqueto, will offer an exciting journey retracing the salient passages of the Old and New Testament, from the creation of the world to the Nativity of Jesus, in a perfect combination of natural beauty, religiosity, magic of music and lights. Veronica will play the Madonna and Child Master's degree and his son Philip Here while Saint Joseph will be played by Francesco Pisciaroli. The narrative voice is Carlo's Orsinihistoric voice of the regional Rai and a well-known name in the Abruzzo theater scene and beyond.
A peculiarity of the Cerqueto Nativity scene is that every year an artist from Abruzzo is entrusted with the creation of a painting on the nativity, to then be used as an image for all the promotional material of the edition. The first artist the organizers turned to was Sandro Banelo in the year 2000, 24 years ago. The painting, in line with the author's direct style and aimed at social commitment, represents the child wrapped in a keffiyeh, the typical headdress of Palestine and also of Kurdistan. The Nativity is set within the walls destroyed by bombing.
“For the Proloco – explains the president of the association Giuseppe Master's degree – the choice to use this painting a second time, after 24 years, is proposed as an explicit and inevitable reminder of the current tragedy in the places of the nativity and of a hope for peace. We are expecting numerous visitors to Cerqueto on the evening of December 26th to attend a touching experience that will make you experience Christmas in a profound and authentic way.”
