Paramount Pictures is officially preparing Sonic 4with a release date scheduled for spring 2027 for this further chapter in the family-friendly franchise. The news arrives while Sonic
3 arrives in US theaters on Friday (it will be released in Italy on January 1), where it is expected to reach first place at the box office with $55-60 million in 3,800 North American theaters. The sequel promises to be quite a success for Paramount during the holiday season, hence the interest in other adventures of the iconic blue hedgehog.
ACritics also appreciated the latest film, awarding a Sonic
3 an impressive 87% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Together, the first two films earned a total of $725.2 million at the worldwide box office and generated more than $180 million in global consumer spending through rentals and digital purchases. They also inspired a Paramount+ spinoff series,
Knucklesreleased earlier this year. It is based on Sega’s popular video game series, which first appeared in 1991.
Jeff Fowler he directed all three films and is likely to return to direct as well Sonic 4. The details on the plot of this fourth chapter are – as you can imagine – still unknown but it is very likely that the announced post-credits scenes of Sonic
