Roma flew to the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup, beating a Sampdoria that was too weak, especially in the first half. Everything is easy for Ranieri’s men who can already look forward to the match against Parma.
ROME, YELLOW-RED REPORT CARD: DOBVYK AWAKENS. LAMPS OF BALDANZI
Ryan 6: debut at the Olimpico without any particular worries. First half never involved. In the second half he conceded a goal where he was not at fault. Non-paying spectator.
Literacy 5.5: half a vote less for shyness and uncertainties ahead. In a match where more courage and personality should have been seen, the Turk appears hesitant and this is not a good sign for his team.
N’Dicka 6: 90 minutes of relaxation. The Ivorian defender controls, elbows, commands respect and takes no risks.
Beautiful 5.5: in a calm match without many dangers, the defender makes the save which leads to Sampdoria’s 3-1. For the rest, it was an orderly game, but that mistake weighed heavily.
Angelino 6.5: running, intensity and a polite foot that serves like bread for the Giallorossi, hungry for precise assists. The boy does not suffer the Sampdoria attackers and, in the second half, he creates an excellent cross for Shomurodov’s head which makes it 4-1.
Pisilli 6.5: solid match with excellent initiatives for the young Roma player. Good movements and openings: the personality grows from match to match and with the passage of time it is becoming a certainty for Ranieri. (from 62′ And Fee 5.5: in a race that is now asleep, a few too many mistakes which are not good for morale. )
Paredes 6.5: quiet day for the Argentine who sorted and beat the clock in midfield. He doesn’t run any big risks, he makes up for a foul when necessary and leads his teammates with the right charisma. The coach’s treatment is working. (since 70′
Pellegrini 6: we need to give Paredes some breathing room. The midfielder enters, fights and gets the pass.)
Zalewski 5.5: on an evening that was needed to help him gain confidence, the Pole doesn’t play badly, but he makes mistakes that cannot be considered as good enough. On the Sampdoria goal he was moved by his opponent and from there the cross was born to make it 3-1. Another missed opportunity for the full-back, who left after a few whistles. (since 70′ Dahl Sv.)
Baldanzi 6.5: in the first half he is impregnable with a run and a technique that put the Sampdoria defense in difficulty. From his restart, suggested by Paredes, he sealed the 3-0 with a nice shot from distance. In the second half he dropped as the minutes passed, also due to the lack of use which made him lose the form to face an entire match.
Saelemaekers 7.5: the Belgian is devastating and after just 20 minutes he delivers two winning assists that bring Roma 2-0. The first is an invitation to Dovbyk, the second creates havoc in Sampdoria’s defense with the Ukrainian being ready for the tap-in. The former AC Milan winger moves well, has legs and is the type of player that the Giallorossi have lacked so far. (from 62′ Soule 6.5: enters with great desire and at the first opportunity hits the crossbar with a nice curling shot. Immediately afterwards, he makes a nice assist for Dobvyk who lets the opposing goalkeeper hypnotize him. Steps forward that show signs of awakening.)
Dobvyk 7: brace and rediscovered goal that the Ukrainian striker absolutely needed. Excellent work in the insertions: served in the right way, the attacker leaves no escape. In the second half they devour the hat-trick for a possible 4-1. The form is not 100% but he is regaining the right conviction. (from 77′ Shomurodov 6.5: he touches two balls and puts one in the net shortly after entering the pitch. The Uzbek remains a good asset from the bench in this type of match.)
Ranieri 7: a bit of turnover, some experiments and space for those who had little space. The responses were positive especially from Dobvyk and Baldanzi. Soul also lights up in the second half and is stopped by the crossbar. Some uncertainty on the part of Zalewski and Celik who demonstrate that they are still one step behind.
