After six seasons, the comedy series What We Do in the Shadows closed the curtain, leaving a mix of emotions among the cast and fans. The sitcom, which chronicles the coexistence of a group of vampires in modern-day Staten Island, maintained a solid audience base until the end. The main actors, including Harvey Guillenexpressed mixed feelings between joy for the experience they had lived and sadness for its conclusion.

Guillermo opens up about a hypothetical What We Do in the Shadows spin-off

The final season marked a turning point for the characters, especially Guillermo, played by Harvey Guillen. After exploring life as a vampire, Guillermo chose to become human again, facing the difficult task of redefining his role within the group. The series ended with a strengthening of the friendship between him and Nandor, played by Kayvan Novak.

Interviewed by Collider, Guillén described the ending as a moment of reflection. “Obviously it’s sad that it’s over, but I’m happy that it happened,” he said, underlining the value of the friendships and experiences he had while filming. Also Mark proxwho plays Colin Robinson, praised the series’ balance of humor and creative freedom, recalling how rare it was to see such margins of improvisation on television.

Among the themes that emerged in the interview, Harvey Guillén was enthusiastic about the idea of a spin-off centered on his character. Guillermo, initially a simple familiar (human assistant of vampires), has become one of the pillars of the plot thanks to his personal journey. Specifically, Guillén stated:

“I would do a spin-off without a second thought.” This suggests that the franchise could expand, keeping fans’ interest alive.

In the meantime we remind you that you can (re)watch the first five seasons of What We Do in the Shadows streaming on Disney+. The sixth and final season will arrive in the near future.
