Mychajlo Mudryk tested positive for a anti-doping control. The reference is to a test to which the Ukrainian attacker underwent in October, after a match played with Chelsea. The prohibited substance has not yet been communicated, but Mudryk has already requested counter-analysis. Below is Chelsea’s statement

Il Chelsea has released a statement on its official profiles regarding the situation involving its own Ukrainian attacker: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm that the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk regarding a negative result in a routine urine test. Both the Club and Mykhailo fully support the FA’s testing program and all of our players , including Mykhailo, are regularly tested. Mykhailo has categorically confirmed that he has never knowingly used any banned substance. Both Mykhailo and the Club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what caused the negative result. The Club makes no further comments.”
Mudryk: “I have never knowingly used banned substances”
The Ukrainian striker himself immediately commented on the story on Instagram. In a post published on his social channels, Mychajlo Mudryk declared: “I can confirm that I was informed that a sample I provided to the FA contained a banned substance.”
And then he added: “AND It was a total shock, as I have never knowingly used banned substances or broken any rules, and I am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.
I know I haven’t done anything wrong and I’m confident I’ll be back on the pitch soon. I can’t say anything else now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will do so as soon as I can.”
