Algeria Football– The leaders of JS Kabylie (JSK) have placed the extension of the contract of their striker Adem Redjem at the heart of their concerns for this first phase of the season. As revealed in our previous information, the management of the Kabyle club has already started discussions with the player and is waiting for the right moment to formalize the signing of his new contract. After his return from Nigeria, where he participated in the African Military Games in Abuja, JSK officials expressed their desire to extend his commitment with the club. However, although the striker is not against the idea of an extension, no signature has yet been placed on the contract.
Redjem’s contract expires on July 30, and to avoid excessive competition from other clubs, notably CS Constantine (CSC), which is pushing for him to join its ranks, the management of the JSK wishes to complete this file before the start of January. This decision is part of a dynamic where the leaders want to concentrate on the immediate objective: accumulating the maximum possible points at the start of the season to stay in the top three. The club prefers to avoid disturbing the tranquility of the group by entering into extension negotiations while the team prepares for two crucial matches.
Although Redjem was a key part of JSK’s attacking play in the previous season, his current situation remains complex. The striker, who joined the club in January 2023 after a major transfer from Paradou AC, has not seen his salary reassessed, despite promises from former president Yazid Iarichen. He had paid a substantial sum for the buyout of his contract, but had agreed to a salary increase conditional on his performance. However, Redjem did not receive the promised raise, which plays a significant role in his negotiations for an extension.
On the ground, his performance sparked debate. His replacement at the start of the second half in the match against ES Sétif (ESS) fueled much speculation. According to the information obtained, coach Benchikha took him out due to his lack of involvement in defensive work during the first half. Although he has undeniable potential to destabilize opposing defenses, Redjem lacks consistency, which explains his less dominant status in the team compared to the previous season.
Despite these imperfections, the leaders of the JSK are still banking on him for the seasons to come. Their proposed contract extension reflects the confidence they have in his abilities, despite recurring criticism regarding his irregularity. Redjem will therefore have to prove that he can return to his best level to retain his starting place and justify the club’s confidence in his future at JSK.
