Touba, Dec 16 (APS) – Sanitation work in progress in Touba (center) will be completed before the start of the next winter, in order to alleviate problems linked to flooding, announced Omar Diop, director of sanitation. at the Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation.
“After the discussions that we had with the actors who work in sanitation in Touba such as the town hall, Hizbut-Tarqiyyah and the Touba Ça Kanam association, the mayor sent the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation the report which establishes the emergency work to be carried out in view of the 2025 winter period,” he recalled.
He was speaking to journalists after an audience with the Caliph General of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké.
He noted that it was following a meeting held in Dakar that the minister instructed his services to complete the work before the next winter.
This work was undertaken in the religious city by the National Sanitation Office of Senegal (ONAS).
According to him, this concerns, among other things, the pipeline work underway in several neighborhoods to facilitate the evacuation of rainwater.
The director of sanitation also indicated the extension work of the Keur Niang basin aimed at doubling its capacity will be completed before wintering.
Omar Sène also announced the imminent completion of work aimed at strengthening the evacuation of rainwater from the great mosque of Touba in Keur Niang.
He reiterated the commitment of the highest authorities to resolve flooding issues in the city of Touba through structural projects.
The mayor of Touba, Abdou Lahat Ka, magnified the commitment of the authorities, in particular the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, to resolve the problem of flooding in Touba.
The councilor assured that the town hall will spare no effort to support the government in its ambitious projects for the city of Touba, in order to improve the living environment and the well-being of the populations.
