The municipality of Catus recently marked an important milestone with the installation of the first stone of the new center for the fight against fires and relief. This event, which took place on December 14, symbolizes the start of work for the construction of a modern building intended to improve the conditions for intervention by firefighters. The official inauguration of this new equipment is scheduled for July 14.
A unifying event
The laying ceremony brought together many authorities local authorities, including the prefect of Lot, Claire Raulin, senator Jean-Marc Vayssouze-Faure, and other representatives of the municipal council. The senior colonel, Jean-François Galtié, as well as Captain Victor Vaz, were also present, surrounded by local firefighters. This event demonstrates the importance given to the safety of the region’s residents.
An urgent need for rehousing
Currently, the fire and rescue center installed on the “La Vernière” site no longer meets the requirements necessary to ensure the safety and smooth running of firefighters’ missions. The new building, covering 600 m2, was designed to meet the needs specific requirements expressed by the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS).
A participatory project
The time capsule, planned during the installation of the first stonealso embodies the participatory dimension of this project. The content of this capsule is the subject of a collaboration between the town hall and the young city councilas well as different local associations. A letter signed by the project’s financiers has already been integrated into a waterproof tube, adding a symbolic touch to this ceremony.
A celebration worthy of the challenges
After the ceremony, the guests had the opportunity to meet in the village hall for speechesfollowed by a reception offered by the municipality.
