Firefighters were still on site at 5:30 p.m., while smoke was still emerging from the lower parts of the Gamard car park, located in the city center of Joué-lès-Tours. This Monday, December 16, 2024, a new fire took place in this Jocondian car park, a little over a year and a half after the one that had already been reported in March 2023 in the same location.
At the time, it was a vehicle that had burned in the lowest part of the parking lot. A scenario which would have repeated itself once again this Monday at the end of the afternoon.
Another dark year
What is certain is that the problems continue for this parking lot. In the midst of a renovation phase, it has had an eventful year. First marked by unpredictable weather which delayed the work to repair the waterproofing of the exterior slab by several months. Then by vandalism noted and repeated on the entrance barrier with three acts of damage recorded between December 4 and 9, 2024.
The work planned in the underground areas (repairing the electricity, painting the walls, floors and ceilings) has not yet started. The managing company, Indigo, must discuss this with the metropolis. While another meeting, this time with the City, is planned for the week. The latter recently indicated that it was not satisfied “answers provided on the progress of the work” pair Indigo.
