The matter was revealed in the municipal council. On Monday, December 9, the mayor of Vienne (Isère), Thierry Kovacs (LR) revealed that he had been threatened with death during this year 2024.

It was an opposition elected official who raised the subject, in particular a request for protection functional issued by the elected official, to provide support to the councilor.

The mayor of Vienna, who did not wish to make this affair public, nevertheless confirmed the facts by specifying that the threatening individual “had said in the market that he wanted to slit my throat”.

A complaint was filed by Thierry Kovacs with the Vienna public prosecutor's office. When requested, the town hall did not wish to answer our editorial staff's questions.

The Vienna prosecutor, Olivier Rabot, specifies that the 47-year-old individual admitted the facts and that he will plead guilty at his trial.
