Moscow (VNA) – During its 4th congress, held on December 14 in Moscow, the Association of Vietnamese in Russia decided to transform itself into the Union of Organizations of Vietnamese in Russia, in order to better represent the nearly 100,000 Vietnamese residing in this country.
The Congress also recorded the upcoming holding of the first Congress of the Union.
Dô Xuân Hoang was elected as its head for a first five-year term, from 2024 to 2029.
This event also marks the 20th anniversary of the Vietnamese Association in Russia. It is part of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia and the major holidays between the two countries planned for 2025.
Speaking at this event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khôi praised the essential role played by the Vietnamese Association in Russia in recent years.
He expressed hope to see the new Union of Organizations of Vietnamese in Russia quickly develop an ambitious action program, while innovating to better serve the interests of compatriots and strengthen ties with the embassy.
The ambassador stressed the importance of preserving traditional values and national culture, thus contributing to the development of the country. -VNA
