They did not expect such success for their short film Louna. Cédric Blun, the director from Adam, and Haithem Herira, the main actor from Persian (Val-d'Oise), were crowned with two prizes at the last Avignon International Film Festival : the prize for best actor and that of best film in the short film category.
Two prices
A well-deserved reward for the two Valdois friends who have been working as a duo for several years.
“I didn’t believe it at all and neither did Cédric. He thought we had only won the best film prize, which is already huge, rejoices Haithem Herira. One of the jurors contacted me on Facebook to tell me that my character was moving. When you are an actor, you appreciate this recognition. »
Released this fall, Louna explores the grief, depression and resilience of an embittered man, who lost his family in a house fire.
On the road, the character, played by Haithem Herira, will meet Louna, played by actress Lou Deleuze, aged 10, whose professionalism and maturity shine through the screen. The young girl was also selected in the best child actress category at the Oniros festival in New York.
Good recipe
Other prizes could soon crown Louna. Cédric Blun's short film appears, in fact, in several selections including that of the Hallucinea festival or the New York monthly festival.
“We have been shooting short films for eight years with Cédric, mixing social and current themes such as disability (I am optimism) or harassment (cyberbullying in #Foryou or school bullying in Laura)explains Haithem Herira. I think this time we found the right recipe. We won these awards against films that are supported by big productions and that gives us a boost for the future. »
Accustomed to dark and dramatic characters, the Persian actor will soon play a bodyguard in an American production for a short film calibrated to the Nikon Festival format (2 minutes and 20 seconds).
