Floyd Mayweather, a boxing legend with 50 victories in as many fights, was asked to leave a neighborhood by a group of people while he was shopping in London. The latter would have criticized him for his support for Israel.
Floyd Mayweather attacked in the streets of London. A video posted on social networks on Tuesday shows a tense moment leaving a luxury store in the chic Hatton Gardens district between several people and the former boxer with 50 victories in as many fights. Some witnesses claim that Mayweather received blows from a group of men who had previously invited him to leave the premises. Under the escort of his security service, he then got into a 4×4 which was waiting for him at the exit.
“I was not hit or touched”
In a message published on Instagram, the man nicknamed “Money” assures that he did not receive any blows during the incident. “Let me set the record straight…there is no truth to the rumors going around,” he wrote on Instagram. “I was not hit or touched in any way. What you see is just my security doing their job to keep the situation under control. I was in the UK for a quick stop 48 hours to go shopping, and unfortunately people let jealousy and negativity fuel false stories. I’m perfectly fine, and there’s really nothing more to say.”
A witness explains to the Sun that the former boxer would have been attacked because of his support for Israel. “There were maybe eight to ten people involved in his pursuit, and about 20 or 25 people watching,” says this person who describes himself as having witnessed the scene. “Mayweather’s security team was outnumbered. Someone said Mayweather was shopping when asked why he supported Israel. He (Mayweather) said he was proud to support Jews. Then Someone threw a punch at him because of that. It seemed very targeted.”
If Mayweather does not mention the reasons for this attack, he has never hidden his support for Israel. He was one of the first stars to go to the Jewish state after the Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023 which caused the deaths of 1,200 Israeli civilians. In November, he attended a barbecue on a military base to show support for the Israel Defense Forces. A few weeks earlier, he had met Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister.
