Urgent recall of meal kits contaminated with salmonella

ALERT ???? Meal kits recalled nationwide due to salmonella! If you purchased gyros sandwiches or family kits from Sam’s Club or Sprouts, throw them away immediately. Tzatziki sauce contains infected cucumbers. Stay vigilant and share information to avoid any risk!

Worrying news has just broken: meal kits sold at popular Sam’s Club warehouse clubs and Sprouts Farmers Markets are being urgently recalled across the country. The reason? Contamination with salmonella, this formidable bacteria which can cause serious food poisoning. If you have recently purchased “Gyro Sandwich” or “Gyro Family” kits from these stores, be extremely careful.

Risky products sold on a large scale

According to health authorities, the “Beef & Lamb Gyro Sandwich Express Meal” kits from Sam’s Club and the “Gyro Family Kit” from Sprouts are affected. Sold in transparent plastic trays, they bear the barcodes “0-13454-38313-1” and “20594800000” respectively. Use-by dates are from December 24, 2024 to January 7, 2025.

Although Sam’s Club kits were distributed throughout the United States, Sprouts kits were present in no less than 24 states: from California to Florida, Texas, Colorado and North Carolina. Hundreds of thousands of consumers are potentially exposed.

Tzatziki sauce causing the problem

The culprit was quickly identified: it was the tzatziki sauce included in these kits. It would in fact contain cucumbers linked to a national salmonella epidemic. As a precautionary measure, authorities are asking that the affected products be thrown away immediately or returned to the store for a refund.

Even if you have already consumed part of the kit without problem, do not hesitate to get rid of it. The risk of cross contamination is real and no risks should be taken with salmonella. Its symptoms – diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever – can last up to a week and require hospitalization in the most serious cases.

Stay informed and vigilant

According to a source close to the matter, the brands concerned are actively collaborating with the authorities to remove the products from the shelves as quickly as possible. Investigations are underway to determine the exact extent of the contamination and its precise origin.

In the meantime, the greatest caution remains in order. Do not hesitate to share this information widely among those around you and report any suspicious products. Your vigilance can prevent many poisonings.

If you think you have been contaminated after consuming these meal kits, do not hesitate to consult a doctor quickly. Appropriate treatment generally allows you to recover without after-effects, but it is important to act quickly.

Consumer safety is our top priority. We are doing everything we can to remove these products from sale and determine the cause of this contamination.
