Navigo or Liberté+: which subscription should you choose for your travels in Île-de-France in 2025?

Île-de- Mobilités confirmed this Wednesday the price of the Navigo subscription for all areas from January 1, 2025: 88.80 euros per month.

At the same time, a new price scale with a single ticket is put in place.

Which solution is the most profitable for you? Answer in practical cases.

A new increase. As for several years, January 1 will be synonymous with an increase in the price of the Navigo pass. Île-de-France Mobilités announced this Wednesday, December 11 that you will now have to pay 88.80 euros each month to recharge your all-zone pass (or 976.80 euros for one year). This amounts to 44.40 euros per month if 50% is covered by your company.

That's not all. From 2025, a new price list will emerge, eliminating the multiple options available at the counter. To take the metro, train and RER (new window)all origins and destinations combined, the single ticket will cost 2.50 euros, connections included, and 2 euros for buses and trams throughout the region, connections also included. The Liberté+ card (new window) will even reduce the price of a trip to 1.99 euros for the metro-train-RER ticket, and 1.60 euros for the bus-tram. In these conditions, is the Navigo pass really still the most profitable? It all depends on the situation.

You only take the metro, the RER and/or the train…

  • … every day. With the Liberté+ card, each metro, RER or train journey (or several added together) will cost 1.99 euros. With 14 journeys per week (i.e. one round trip per day, including weekends), a week in transport will cost 27.86 euros. Or a little more than 111 euros per month on average. The Navigo pass therefore remains the most profitable.
  • …three, four or five days a week. With the Liberté+ card, ten journeys per week (five round trips) will cost 19.90 euros, or around 80 euros per month. For eight journeys per week (four round trips), this will cost 15.92 euros, or around 64 euros per month. And around 48 euros for six journeys per week (three round trips). In all three cases, the Navigo pass remains the most profitable if it is 50% covered by your employer.
  • …less than three days a week. For less regular travelers, the Liberté+ card becomes more interesting. If you only take the metro, RER and/or train two days a week (for a round trip each time), it will cost you around 32 euros per month. In this case, the Navigo pass no longer becomes profitable.

Conclusion : you must make at least 23 journeys (or 12 round trips) each month by metro, RER and/or train for the Navigo pass (50% covered by the company) to become more profitable than subscribing to the card Freedom+.

You only take the bus and/or tram*…

  • … every day. With the Liberté+ card, each bus or tram journey will cost 1.60 euros. With 14 journeys per week (i.e. one round trip per day, including weekends), a week in transport will cost 22.40 euros. Or around 90 euros per month on average. The Navigo pass therefore remains the most profitable.
  • …four or five days a week. With the Liberté+ card, ten journeys per week (five round trips) will cost 16 euros, or around 64 euros per month. For eight journeys per week (four round trips), this will cost 15.92 euros, or around 52 euros per month. In both cases, the Navigo pass remains the most profitable in the event of 50% support from your employer.
  • …less than four days a week. For less regular travelers, the Liberté+ card becomes more interesting. If you only take the bus and/or tram three days a week (for a round trip each time), it will cost you around 39 euros per month. In this case, the Navigo pass no longer becomes profitable.

Conclusion : you must make at least 28 trips (or 14 round trips) each month by bus and/or tram for the Navigo pass (50% covered by the company) to become more profitable than subscribing to the Liberté+ card .

*With the exception of lines T11, T12 and T13, covered at the price of the metro-RER-train ticket.

You take the metro, the RER and/or the train AND the bus and/or the tram…

  • … every day. With the Liberté+ card, each metro, RER and/or train journey (1.99 euros) associated with the bus and/or tram (1.60 euros) will cost 3.59 euros. With 14 journeys per week (i.e. one round trip per day, including weekends), a week in transport will cost 50.26 euros. That’s more than 200 euros per month. The Navigo pass therefore remains the most profitable.
  • …two, three, four or five days a week. With the Liberté+ card, ten journeys per week (five round trips) will cost 35.9 euros, or around 144 euros per month. For eight journeys per week (four round trips), this will cost 28.72 euros, or around 115 euros per month. It's almost 90 euros per month for six trips per week (three return trips), and 58 euros for four trips per week (two return trips). In all four cases, the Navigo pass remains the most profitable in the event of 50% support from your employer.
  • …only one day a week. In this configuration, only occasional travelers will find the Liberté+ card of interest. If you only make such a trip once a week (two round trips), it will cost you around 30 euros per month. The Navigo pass is then no longer profitable.

Conclusion : you must make at least 13 trips (or seven round trips) each month by metro, RER and/or train associated with the bus and/or tram for the Navigo pass (50% covered by the company) to become more profitable than subscribing to the Liberté+ card.
