For Medhi Benatia, OM has no “generational crack” among its young people – France – Olympique de Marseille

Medhi things.

In an interview given to Provence this Wednesday, Medhi Benatia discusses, among other hot topics of the moment, the low playing time in the first team of young players from training. According to the sports advisor of Olympique de Marseille, if “ those who were predicted to have more minutes don't play, it's not theft ». « I'm not sure we have a generational crack like Samir Nasri, a guy who can play at the Vélodrome at 17 years old. I don't see it, anyway. But we will work to get there »he adds.

Too much respect for elders?

While only three “kids” under 21 have grabbed a handful of minutes this season (Enzo Sternal, Keyliane Abdallah and Alexi Koum), Benatia considers that young people do not put themselves forward enough in training: “I see them in training, they don't let go like they should[…] Between a 17 year old kid and Højbjerg or Rabiot, I have to see the difference. But in the desire, the enthusiasm, a young person must catch my eye […] They tell themselves too much that they won't have a chance, that it's complicated. In reality, there is too much respect. »

It's important to respect elders, too.
