The opening of this line is part of a broader development strategy. Royal Air Maroc aims to consolidate its presence in North America, as confirmed by Nour-eddine Ez-zairi, regional representative of the company in Canada, who expressed the company’s desire to expand its network and strengthen its commercial positioning in North America.
Beyond the simple increase in passenger traffic, this connection has a strong symbolic significance. It strengthens ties between Morocco and Canada, promoting exchanges in fields as varied as the economy, science and culture. This new line, according to the official, will allow the national company to consolidate its regional leadership in Africa and play a central role in the connection between Africa and the rest of the world.

The announcement of this direct flight was greeted with enthusiasm by the Moroccan community in Toronto. Narjis Lazrak, president of the Moroccan Association in Toronto, sees it as an important event for the Moroccan community in Toronto and for bilateral relations, specifying that the contribution of Moroccans in Toronto to the development of the city highlights their capacity for adaptation and their active contribution to socio-economic dynamics.
Operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners, the Casablanca-Toronto line offers three flights per week: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It complements Royal Air Maroc’s network in North America, which already includes flights to New York, Washington, Miami and São Paulo.
But after the praise comes the criticism. Many Moroccans residing in North America had, in the past, strongly criticized the airline’s pricing policy, particularly during the summer holidays when it was almost impossible for MREs to return to Morocco because of the high cost of tickets. It is now up to the company to find a balance between the expectations of Moroccans in Canada and its economic imperatives.
A quick simulation of the price of a one-way ticket between Toronto and Casablanca for next July shows tickets costing just over 900 Canadian dollars. These should increase significantly by summer.
