Green Day’s Channing Tatum and Billie Joe Armstrong were in the stands during Wrexham’s match against Cambridge United earlier today (December 14).

The club has attracted considerable interest since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought it in 2021, which also boosted its performance in the league and inspired the Disney+ series. Welcome to Wrexham. Celebrities often come to watch its matches, including Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell and Hugh Jackman who recently visited the racecourse.

Tatum and Armstrong saw the team finish in a last-minute 2-2 draw against Cambridge United.

It was also reported that Reynolds and Tatum visited local pub The Fat Boar last night (December 13), buying local customers a drink and posing for photos.

Armstrong has previously declared his love for lower league football and made a habit of going to watch the matches when Green Day were in the UK making their latest album ‘Saviors’.

“I’ve been to a lot of football matches: Arsenal, Leyton Orient, Fulham. I went to the Den to see Millwall. It was incredible. Man, if you really want to experience British culture, this is what you should do,” he said last year.

He continued: “Football is like a fucking religion. It’s like attending a big rock concert. You practically need earplugs! I always wanted to experience all the different divisions, not just the world class teams like Arsenal and Man City. I wanted to go to some of the lower league games – especially Millwall, which has that gritty, edgy, underdog, ‘no one likes us and we don’t care’ vibe. Reminds me of being an Oakland Raiders fan.

Separately, last month, Green Day’s performance of “American Idiot” on a 2004 episode of …Lettreman was re-uploaded to YouTube after Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election.
