Saturday evening, a 39-year-old man was in police custody for murder, suspected of having fatally stabbed a locksmith in the second arrondissement of the capital, AFP learned from a police source and the prosecutor's office. According to the police source, confirming information from Le Parisien, a dispute broke out around 2 a.m. on rue du Caire, in the center of the capital, between a resident and a locksmith.

The cause, according to the first elements of the investigation, is a disagreement over possible overbilling, with the tenant of the accommodation refusing to pay the service. The two men came to blows, the locksmith striking the tenant in the head with a hammer who then stabbed him in the throat. Despite the arrival of help, the locksmith, aged 30 according to the prosecution, died from his injuries. The tenant was arrested for intentional homicide and transported to hospital, according to another source.

This man, aged 39, is currently in police custody. The investigations, entrusted to the 2nd district of the judicial police, are continuing.
