An “experienced sniper”

Despite a search of the area, authorities were unable to find the shooter’s bike or weapon. However, they found a bottle of water as well as a disposable telephone, which could belong to the suspect. If investigators can link the phone to the shooter, it could be a key piece of evidence in revealing DNA or other clues to his identity – provided police technicians can unlock it. And for good reason, at present, the authorities have little information on the suspect. It would be a “light-skinned man” portant “a light brown or cream jacket, a black mask, black and white sneakers and a very distinctive gray backpack“.

In addition to his appearance, investigators are also looking at his profile. “Detectives believe the suspect acted slowly, deliberately and in a manner that suggested he was an experienced sniper“, police officials tell CNN. “It seems that he is proficient in the use of firearms as he was able to eliminate the malfunctions (of the firearm, Editor’s note) quite quickly“, agrees Joe Kenny, the chief of detectives of the NYPD.

Menaces

According to his wife, Brian Thompson had already been the subject of threats. “I don’t know the details (…) I just know that he said that some people had threatened him“, she told NBC News. Threats confirmed to CNN by a source close to the investigation, who claims that “UnitedHealthcare’s parent company, UnitedHealth Group – the largest American insurance company – was aware of worrying threats against its senior executives.

Police said they were offering up to $10,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest, CNN reported.
