Evacuation and confinement the day before
The day before, in fact, it had even been necessary to evacuate seven people and confine twelve, to a gas leak in the village, rue du Dr Callegari. The cause was a pipe torn out by an excavator during work.
The leak observed this Wednesday, December 4, 2024and for which the alert was given at 4:56 p.m., occurred “at the level of the holder of a GRDF box” on rue des Ruettes, explains the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis 50) .

The firefighters set up a security perimeter. GRDF's intervention made it possible to stop the leak.
Nine firefighters from The Hague, Port-Bail and Barneville were mobilized in this operation.
