“A new bottle in the sea”. Nathalie Delaporte, president of the Boule Club des Villes Sœurs, launched a new appeal for goodwill during the association's general meeting.

On Monday October 7, 2024, a fire affected the club's premises, near the Mers-les-Bains football stadium, in the Somme. “It’s probably an electrical problem,” described the president. “Today, the structure cannot be saved.”

Two prefabs will arrive

The stadium and the meadow are areas recognized as vulnerable to flooding. This is an area where we can no longer rebuild, in concrete, with foundations.

« Our place is finished. We have had meetings with the elected officials of the Three Sister Cities, but for the moment no solution has been found,” assured Nathalie Delaporte.

If the outdoor fields have not been affected, the club no longer has a structure to welcome and shelter the players. The club did not sit idly by. It has already acquired two prefabs which will arrive in the coming months, to be installed on the current Provençal playing field.

We are therefore launching an appeal for other donations of prefabs, containers or land that can accommodate us in the Three Sister Cities.

Increasing numbers

Until then, the club's season had been rather positive. He had carried out renovations to the building, which made the refreshments a success during organized events and tournaments.

The increase in numbers continues. The association welcomes 120 licensees.

The club has multiplied trophies. Malick Saar is thus head-to-head champion among the cadets, facing another Mersois, Steeven Bovin. Next season, four teams are qualified to play in the regional.

The club also ranks fourth in the ranking of clubs of the pétanque committee.

Philippe Delaporte was rewarded as the best veteran of the Somme committee. Nathalie Delaporte received an honorary diploma from the president of the Somme committee during the committee's general meeting on November 15.

To support its activities, the Boule Club will organize two lotus on January 25 and 26, 2025, at the Serge Reggiani room in Tréport, in Seine-Maritime.

The club thanks all its partners as well as the municipalities, including that of Saint-Martin-le-Gaillard which was kind enough to welcome what was able to be saved after the fire.
