This Tuesday, December 3, 2024, a fire broke out in an apartment located at 17, residence Marcel-Lefeuvre, in La Mézière, a town north of Rennes. The incident occurred in the early morning, shortly after 8 a.m. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the accommodation was completely ravaged by the flames.
Urgently mobilized, 24 firefighters from the Rennes Beauregard, Gévezé and Melesse barracks intervened to bring the disaster under control. The operation required the use of two lances.
The fire apparently started from a bedroom before spreading to the rest of the apartment, with a total area of 75 m². The latter was completely destroyed, making the accommodation uninhabitable. The four occupants, a couple and their two children, however left the scene before emergency services arrived.
Close to the affected residence, the Saint-Martin private school was slightly affected by the smoke. As a precautionary measure, the 240 students present in the establishment were invited to remain confined in their classrooms until the end of the intervention. From 10:30 a.m., schoolchildren were able to resume their activities normally, without any other notable disruption. Photo: SDIS 35
