The Katulu readers' prize has taken place in the media libraries of Haut Val de Sèvre since March 2024. Reading committees met to discuss the three selections proposed on the theme of water, tapes comics, fiction and real-life stories. « Readings which allowed us to deepen our knowledge of water and to ask the right questions about its use”, underline the media librarians.
In each category, five works were in the running. The announcement of the winners took place in Cherveux, in the presence of the teenage and adult readers who participated. More than 80 votes were recorded: a participation record.
In the BD selection, Sermilik by Simon Hureau won the votes. In the fiction category, The Lake of Nowhere, by Pete Fromm, won the prize, and in the real-life stories selection, it is the work of Renaud Leblond, The Swimmer of Auschwitz, who received the greatest number of votes.
These books can be found in participating media libraries and libraries, Saint-Maixent-l'École, La Crèche, Souvigné, Soudan, Pamproux and Cherveux. After the announcement of the results, a Thalassoesia treatment was offered by the professional company Théâtre Cabines.
A regenerating show which cures ailments through words, which was also offered to seniors and around fifty students from the Cherveux school, at the start of the afternoon. The sum of €1,700 was allocated by the community of communes of Haut Val de Sèvre to finance this event.
