Mr. Massicotte has been serving the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion since 2014. He first served as operations captain, before being promoted to division head – Operations in 2016.
Before that, he worked within the Coteau-du-Lac Fire Safety Department, where he held the positions of deputy director between 1996 and 2001, then director of the service from 2001 to 2014. In office since 1992, the new director has 32 years of experience in fire safety.
“Mr. Stéphane Massicotte stands out for his leadership and strong management skills. During his interim mandate as director of the Fire Safety Service, he worked with determination and efficiency to ensure the success of the organization,” declared Mr. Olivier Van Neste, Director General.
A major charge
Mr. Massicotte manages a department of 68 employees, including management and administrative staff, firefighters, fire prevention technicians and school crossing guards. The Fire Safety Service is responsible for the protection of people and property throughout the territory of Vaudreuil-Dorion, ensuring a presence 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at the Forbes and Lotbinière barracks.
It supports programs and services related to firefighting, develops and implements prevention initiatives, and responds to emergencies. The service responds to various types of calls, such as fires, traffic accidents, hazardous material spills, water activities, as well as for first responders. In addition, thanks to intermunicipal agreements, it provides fire protection for the municipalities of Pointe-des-Cascades, L'Île-Cadieux and Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac.
