The world of music is celebrating, because Serge Wozniack, a talented 70-year-old and multi-decorated musician, is celebrating his fifty years of service within the Gaité Oironnaise. On the occasion of this milestone, in November 2024, he received the Gold Medal with Veteran Star, a well-deserved distinction for his years of dedication and passion.
Serge began his musical journey at the age of 9, when he took his first music theory lessons from a neighbor in Laire (Pas-de-Jeu). At that time, Thursday afternoons were devoted to music, a great opportunity which allowed him to develop his talent. This is how he started on the trumpet, before turning to the tenor saxophone.
The fanfare, a family
La Gaité oironnaise, the brass band to which he belongs, is made up of fifteen talented musicians, playing a variety of instruments such as the trombone, clarinet, drum, horn, saxophone and trumpet. Together, they were able to create a harmony that delights the audience during their performances.
This year, the fanfare is also celebrating its 97the Sainte-Cécile, celebration which honors the patroness of musicians. The event brings together friends, families and music-loving residents around the love of music. Serge Wozniack is an inspiring example of dedication and passion for music for younger generations. His commitment and loyalty to Gaité Oironnaise as well as his career make him an emblematic figure of the local music scene.
“His gold medal with veteran star is a beautiful tribute to his many years of service and the musicians and the population of Oiron wish him many more years of music”smiles Jean-Philippe Pouit, president and musician of the fanfare.
