The family of Younes El Boussetaoui, shot dead in Voghera (Italy) in the summer of 2021 by the former municipal councilor, Massimo Adriatici, has rejected a new compensation proposal for the murder of their loved one. Killed at the age of 39, the father was attacked by the former leader close to the extreme right, before being the target of gunshots from the suspect, who claimed self-defense.

According to Ticinonotizie, Adriatici recently deposited seven bank checks with a notary, totaling 220,000 euros. 55,000 euros of the sum goes to each of the victim's parents and 22,000 to each of his five brothers and sisters. Previously, he offered 290,000 euros. For her part, the victim's widow accepted compensation of 250,000 euros, in a separate agreement. But the civil party's lawyers believe that the defendant's initiatives do not imply recognition of responsibility for the facts.

On November 6, the case took a new turn, when judge Valentina Nevoso ordered the prosecution to reclassify the facts from excessive self-defense to intentional homicide, based on possible premeditation. In this case, the case could be brought before the Assize Court, although the defendant would opt for a shortened procedure, in order to benefit from a reduced sentence in the event of guilt.

This request was previously highlighted by MPs from the Italian Left party. In November 2021, they demanded a commission of inquiry into the handling of the case by the Pavia prosecutor, who has not ordered further procedures against the shooter, since the end of his house arrest. At the same time, they castigated the initial rejection of the hypothesis of intentional homicide beyond self-defense.
