Huawei introduces HarmonyOS 5.0 on another smartwatch model. The update appears to be rolling out globally, as reported by users in several countries. According to the release notes, it brings a refreshed interface, offline map support, and several other new features and improvements.
Huawei's Huawei Watch Ultimate receives HarmonyOS 5.0 in a global update. The first series of wearables to benefit from the latest version of HarmonyOS was the Watch GT 5 which launched in September. Today, firmware version 5.0.0.13 (SP2C00M02) brings HarmonyOS 5.0 to the Watch Ultimate.
According to the changelog shared by tipsters on HC Newsroom, this version refreshes the user interface. It supports downloading offline maps with outdoor navigation and positioning, as well as importing routes and associated navigation in Expedition mode. Users can now take screenshots, which are viewable on their smartphone. Additionally, there are additional watch faces and a new golf app. Huawei says it has improved screen transitions and alarm functionality. It also optimized push notifications to make the source and total number of notifications received clearer.
Update 5.0.0.13 has been reported by Huawei Watch Ultimate users in France and Germany. It's unclear how many units of the smartwatch are now eligible to download the update via Huawei Health, or when the global rollout will be complete. The Huawei Watch Ultimate is currently available for $890 on Amazon.
