After a brief suspension of the session, the Prime Minister enters the hemicycle facing a standing central bloc, who applaud him. Elsewhere on the benches of deputies, hubbub is the order of the day.
“It is necessary for France to have a budget for Social Security and for 2025. […] For the first time in the joint committee, this text was the subject of consensus after numerous changes,” he explained, recalling his method of dialogue and compromise. “It is now up to you, deputies, parliamentarians, to decide whether our country adopts a responsible and essential text or whether we enter the unknown. I address you with respect. I sincerely think that the French would not forgive us for preferring particular interests to the future of the Nation. And you hear this, I know, in each of your constituencies,” he says to the boos of some and the applause of his camp.
“I have reached the end of the dialogue,” says Michel Barnier, before holding his government responsible. He is therefore exposed to a motion of censure, “ on the basis of article 49 paragraph 3 of the Constitution”. This is the first time he has used it since his appointment on September 5.
