An imposing connected watch on the wrist
When the Apple Watch Ultra 2 was released, first impressions were puzzling since in appearance, the watch is almost similar to the Ultra 1. You shouldn't like the discretion too much since it is available in a single size with a 49mm titanium case. The screen does nothing to improve this effect of size with a thick square design of 1.44 cm.
On the other hand, once turned on, you immediately see the difference. The LTPO OLED panel displays a definition of 410 x 502 pixels for a detailed display. Especially since the brightness has increased by 1000 cd/m², going from 2000 to 3000 on this model. For comparison, competitors like the Garmin epix Pro stop at 1000 cd/m².
An S9 processor that makes all the difference
The watch offers more than complete connected features. Of course, you have the basics, namely the ability to make your calls hands-free, or respond to your messages using the touch screen. Besides, this model is GPS + Cellular, so if you put a SIM card in the watch, you can use it even when your iPhone is not nearby. We forgot to mention this, but it's best to have an iPhone to take advantage of everything the Apple Watch 2 Ultra has to offer.
You find a “classic” list of sensors on the watch, namely an electrical heart rate monitor, a 3rd generation optical heart rate sensor, a blood oxygen level sensor (SpO2), a dual frequency GNSS (L1 and L5), a gyroscope and accelerometer, an altimeter/depth meter and a temperature sensor.
The watch therefore monitors your days and nights (it can detect if you have sleep apnea) and gives you regular reports and advice to improve your health. It's a shame that for the price, Apple has not integrated mapping, the basis for a sports-oriented watch. As for autonomy, although it is greater than that of the first Apple Watch Ultra, it nevertheless remains behind: up to 36 hours in classic use and only 17 hours in sport mode.
