HEARING REPORT – The defense of two accused ministers in 2005 – including the former president – considers that only the Court of Justice of the Republic is authorized to examine their case.

These four men in suits sitting side by side on the uncomfortable folding seats of the Court, like travelers each staring at their own personal horizon, were once powerful figures. To the right of Nicolas Sarkozy took place Éric Woerth, Brice Hortefeux and Claude Guéant: a former President of the Republic and three of his ex-ministers.

At the helm, the first, equal to himself at almost 70 years old, presents himself as « lawyer, married » ; the second, almost 69 years old, whose long and lean silhouette can be seen, like « MP, married”. Mr. Hortefeux, 66 years old, who has hardly changed, is « retired from the civil service, divorced”. Mr. Guéant, in his eighties in a few days, has a chalky complexion; he's floating around in a suit that's too big. « Retired and widowed »he declines in response to the president's question.
