The Municipal Council met on Friday, November 29, in the village hall, for a session particularly devoted to the election of the mayor and deputies, in front of a large audience.
Indeed, following the resignation of Fabien Lainé, who became a deputy again after the appointment of Geneviève Darrieussecq to the Ministry of Health of which he was the deputy, the elected officials had to vote to proceed with his replacement, the third out of the two mandates (Raphaëlle Miremont and Christophe Labruyère have already held the position). By majority – the opposition which had not presented a candidate voted blank – it was Nathalie Soulage, until then second deputy, who took the reins of town hall.
“The right person”
“She’s a beautiful person and the right person,” underlined Fabien Lainé, after giving him the mayor’s sash, subsequently discussing current projects and major issues such as the bypass, cycle paths and sidewalks in various neighborhoods, as well as the future “Cœur de village 3”, which will be built opposite the market square, around the Dubos house.
“It is with gratitude and humility that I take on this role,” said the new mayor. I have ambition for my city. I understand the importance of the task that awaits me and want to bring the community’s projects to life.”
After determining the number of deputies (seven), the Council elected the only list in the running, in order: Sébastien Noailles, Nathalie Rigal, Benjamin Bardes, Jacqueline Fanari, Sébastien Dufau, Carmen Thierot and Bruno Moratinos.
In the process, Nathalie Soubaigné, leader of the minority team took the floor to congratulate and encourage Nathalie Soulage in her task, assuring her of “constructive opposition”.
The councilors then determined the office allowances of the mayor and deputies, the delegations of power of the mayor, reviewed the various commissions and established the delegates to the board of directors of the Municipal Social Action Center. In short, the entire ritual of an election of a mayor in which all the deliberations were adopted unanimously.
