The world of sailing and ocean racing is in mourning. Jean Coadou, referee for the French Sailing Federation, and director of race committees for a large number of events (Solitaire du Figaro, Spi Ouest-, Arkea Ultim Challenge, etc.) died on the night of Tuesday November 29 to Wednesday November 27 at the age of 77. This former officer of the National Navy launched into refereeing and organizing races after his military career.

Deeply attached to Finistère

His extreme rigor, his honesty and his frankness made him very appreciated by the skippers. His sense of pedagogy, his constant desire to make his decisions clearly understood, and the few very useful indiscretions that he delivered, also made him a valuable interlocutor for journalists specializing in sailing.

Viscerally attached to Finistère (preferably north…) and to harbor, he was known there by all the sailors. Everyone will remember the solemn tone he used in the departure procedures: “3, 2, 1, start. Good start! ». West France extends its most sincere condolences to his entire family.
