Accused of having kidnapped his son Santiago, a very premature baby born in October in a hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis), the father will be handed over to the French authorities within ten days, an Amsterdam court declared on Wednesday where he had been arrested.
Born two months early, the infant, then 17 days old, was taken from the Robert-Ballanger hospital on October 21, where he was placed in an incubator. After four days of tracking, Dutch police found the two parents and the baby on October 25 in a hotel in Amsterdam.

The mother had accepted the accelerated procedure of surrender to France. She was indicted on November 7 in Bobigny but released under judicial supervision.
The father, for his part, opted for a long procedure and remained in pre-trial detention in the Netherlands, before changing his mind. “The man finally opted for the accelerated surrender procedure,” the Amsterdam court said on Wednesday. “The surrender is authorized. This will take place within ten days,” he added.
