Moroccan inventor Fouad Faqiri won the gold medal on Friday at the Seoul International Exhibition of Inventions (SSIF), organized in the Korean capital from November 27 to 30.
At the event, Mr. Faqiri also received an honorary award from Citizen Innovation, a Singaporean alliance working to promote innovators, as well as the title of “Innovation Icon” awarded by the Malaysian Ministry of Defense.
The award-winning Moroccan project, the only African representative at the Seoul show, concerns a device generating clean electrical energy, offering higher efficiency than solar and wind technologies.
Modular in different sizes, this device, the prototypes of which will soon be developed, is capable of converting gravitational and magnetic energy into mechanical energy, which is then transformed into green and sustainable electrical energy.
In a statement to MAP, Mr. Faqiri expressed his deep pride for this new distinction, the fifth in 2024, as well as for representing Morocco at international scientific forums.
He recalled that this invention was recognized internationally, notably in the Middle East during the International Exhibition of Inventions in Kuwait, at the Geneva Motor Show and at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Tokyo, where it won the gold medal and the grand prize.
This invention was also awarded at the 9th edition of the International Inventions Fair, organized from October 2 to 6 in Adana, Turkey, he added.
The Moroccan inventor stressed that this project will contribute to modifying the characteristics of energy production in terms of protection and preservation of the environment, making it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60% to 70% at over the next 20 years.
He expressed the hope that this invention would make a significant contribution to Morocco's efforts in the field of renewable energies, while declaring himself open to all initiatives aimed at exploiting the advanced technologies it offers.
The SSIF brought together more than 400 inventors, mainly from Korea, China and other East Asian countries, with the participation of Arab delegations, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Fouad Faqiri had already won the gold medal at the Kuwait International Exhibition of Inventions last February, as well as at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions last April.
He obtained the patent relating to the design of a device for producing clean electrical energy on November 30, 2023.
