This Monday, November 25, 2024 in Marseille, a teacher filed a complaint against death threats from a student who threatened to “take him down” him and his son, reveal our colleagues from Figaro.
A police investigation has since been opened.
A professor threatened with death in Marseille
A teacher from the Rempart-Vinci high school, located in the 7th arrondissement of the Marseille city, was the target of death threats. The professor was in fact shown a screenshot from a Snapchat group, which personally threatened him and his son. A photo of the latter was even broadcast on the conversation.
According to the national daily, these threats came in a difficult climate, while the teacher decided to intervene following an atmosphere tinged with “racism, anti-Semitism, conspiracy and negationism”.
“No threats are acceptable”
This Tuesday, Renaud Muselier, president of the South region, quickly reacted with a press release, assuring the professor of his support: “The Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, in conjunction with the Rectorate, takes this serious threat seriously. and takes all necessary measures to restore order within the establishment and the safety of all,” he expresses.
“At the Republic school, no threat, no attack against a teacher is acceptable,” continues Renaud Muselier. ” Never. The last bastion in the face of conspiracy, racism and anti-Semitism, the Southern Region stands alongside the teachers.”
Legal protection and psychological support
In addition, legal protection and psychological support were offered to the professor.
The Rempart-Vinci high school is located a stone's throw from the Old Port and Saint-Victor Abbey, in a renowned quiet area of the Marseille city. It is public and offers general and technological education.
